Periodontics
Periodontal disease or gum disease affects the tissues that keep your teeth in place. When tartar, plaque and bacteria build up around the tooth, it’s supporting tissue is compromised; if not diagnosed and treated in time it may result in the loss of the tooth or even bone loss. Treatments such as scaling and root planting are used to clean the infected areas of the tooth. In some cases, such as severe periodontitis, surgical procedures may be necessary to restore oral health.
